Ready to Roll

For the first time I am ready to confess today that I secretly stalk men’s fashion blogs! Not only that, I also have a few favorites too (though let’s keep that part for another post).
Now, if you are wondering why do I stalk men’s blogs – then there is a simple answer to that – Why Not?? Men’s blogs are a healthy source of inspiration, and at the same time, it doesn’t hurt to stalk a few handsome men in the virtual world! (Does it..??) There it is… I said it.. I do it (too).
So, obviously since I follow men’s fashion so religiously, there is bound to be an effect!
Menswear inspired fashion is definitely not new, however there is still a L-O-T of scope in this course. I feel I should experiment more! (I am on it..!!)
Personally, my favorite menswear accessory is a Hat! How stylish and elegant they make a man look! A hat turns a ‘well-dressed man’ in to a ‘well-dressed gentleman’. Ha!
To me, hats complete an outfit – and Fedora hats are my favorite of all. So, here goes a very basic version of menswear inspired outfit.. my way..P.S. For some reason the pictures don’t do justice to the color of these Corduroy Pants. They are dark military green in color – though they look black in these pictures.

Corduroy Pants: Loft | Shirt: The Limited | Fedora: Target (Men’s) (similar) | Shoes: Nine West (similar) | Scarf: H&M | Watch: Invicta

Top 10 Fall 2012 Trends

Yeh, another Fall 2012 post!

The new season has unveiled new trends, new colors and shapes when it comes to fashion and it seems that the new wave of trends are all about making a statement.
The number of Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 fashion trends is large which makes it possible for every fashion-conscious girl to find something to her taste.
This fall season is all about variety, so check out the latest fashion trends spotted on the runway and find out which styles should not miss from your fall 2012 wardrobe!

1. Military – It is surprising how fashion keeps changing all the time as the military trend is getting more and more popular with fashionistas who used to love feminine and delicate designs. Every designer from Victoria Beckham to Salvatore Ferragamo has demonstrated their works inspired by military trend.

2. Leather – Nothing screams elegance, luxury and timeless classicism more than leather. Leather is always in fashion but it usually gets trendier with colder seasons approaching. A complete head-to-toe leather lookis very popular this season. You can create amazing and chic looks using all kinds of colors in leather.

3. Peplum – Peplums were quite popular this summer and will continue to be trendy during this Fall season as well. However new peplums are darker and classier.

4. Knits – Keeping well into the comfort zone is a must especially when it comes to casual wear. And now, with knits as a trend, there are plenty of knitted items available, in all possible colors, prints and lengths.

5. Whites – Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? This fall season will have a big chunk of winter white.

6. Burgundy – The rich, wine color is “the new black“. The bold, bordeaux hue took every form on the fall runways: as tailored pant suits, draped evening gowns, oversized coats, and much more. Embrace burgundy this year, and jettison the traditional (and boring) autumn tones, like brown and army green.

7. Menswear Inspired – The suit or the masculine inspired look has made its presence felt since last year’s fall season and it seems that this year the look is yet again on top of the trends as nothing can top the fierceness and classy look a perfectly tailored suit can bring. Paired with a cool shirt and with the right attitude, you can make heads turn!

8. Over-sized coats and pockets – The bigger the better, however, over-sized coats have a high impact over one’s look, so learn how to rock this oh-so-fab coat as this year it will be everywhere!

9. Metallic Gold – One of the trends for the fall collections was metallic gold, or we can say, if the evening wear on the New York runways had a single theme, it was gold, with gowns rendered in liquid-like metallic that practically dripped off the catwalk.

10. Pattern – Besides zoological prints, like leopard and python, to which we are already accustomed, watch for swirls of geometric patterns on suits, dresses, jackets, tops, skirts, and pants.

The Power of White Shirt and Blue Jeans

Ever wondered why blue jeans and a white shirt is such a timeless classic combination? Look at the picture below.
This is how the original idea came from! Well, may be. It may be the simplest look you could think of, but it is one of style staples of the women’s wardrobe.
Blue jeans and white shirt is a crisp and clean solution that is easy to pull together and keeps you looking effortless at the same time!
You may consider blue jeans and a white top as off-duty dressing, but dress them up with a pair of high heels and you take simplicity to a new height and get something as stylish as the little black dress.
This may seem incredibly simple, but I’ve found a lot of people don’t own one of the most useful pieces for a good classic outfit: a plain well-fitted white shirt.
However, it is a great piece of item to invest into. Put it under a blazer, pair up with your jeans or add a hat. You may do the soft girl look or go the androgynous way, it looks great both ways.
When you have to attend an event or go for a girlie look, you can simply replace the white tee with an elegant blouse, add a statement piece of necklace and classic pumps. Nothing can spell modern classic better than this!
Let’s look at few illustrations below –
Our very own lovely fellow bloggers like Nini and Kelly Framel play the dress up look. Add a Peplum blouse, killer heels and a stunning bag for the evening look.
Wear your hat straight up! A hat can make all the difference. I personally love Fedora hats (see here and here). You can also add a scarf, a belt (like Kim) or a colored tote.
You may definitely choose to keep your denims short and still work up the look. Add a shocking color with your socks (see here) or an umbrella, even stockings can add a pinch of glamour! (See how I wore my denim shorts here)
Did you say jackets? Oh yeh, anytime.. and all kinds! Wear your winter trench coats or simply jazz up the look with a tailored jacket or blazer. A vest looks amazing too! (See how I wore my denim vest here)
Now, who says you can’t go upside down? Well, it looks equally awesome, simply add-on few colorful accessories. I personally love white pants!
Go casual! Wear your flared, distressed or cropped denims and you are good to go on those lazy days when dressing up is not that fun 😉 Don’t forget to add a bling to your outfit with some strappy sandals (like Cameron Diaz), a boxy clutch or a wrist watch.
Men will be men! They can easily take this blue and white combination a level up. Wear your attitude on your sleeves and voila! You are ready to rock the world!
