Coming back to my another favorite topic (after fitness) – skincare. I am not to going lecture on the importance of sunscreen today, since you must know it all, by now (if not, Read this). Today, I am sharing 4 of my personal favorite sunscreens. If you are wondering why the number ‘4’ or she could have easily added one more and titled the list as ‘my favorite top 5’.. etc.. etc.. Well then, I tried, but I just couldn’t find a fifth favorite! These are the only four sunscreens that I really, really like. What can I say..?!!
Anyways.. I have used them (in fact still using all of them) and the reviews are based on my personal experiences. Just putting them in random order.
- Clinique Super City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 40 – It’s slightly tinted and tends to leave a white residue on skin if not properly blended. So I really blend it well and massage it in to the skin. I use this one mostly on the weekends when I plan to spend my day outdoors. Again, this is not a substitute to a foundation. Link
- Clarins UV PLUS Anti-Pollution Sunscreen Multi-Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 50 – Big fan of the milky texture of this one and fact that it is lightweight and sheer when applied. At first I got a trial size at Sephora, but then I loved it so much, I decided to buy the full size. Similar to the previous one, I like to wear it when I am headed outdoors, for a long day. I could say that I love wearing sunscreens more than moisturizers.. haha!! Link
- Benefit Dream Screen SPF 45 – Personally I feel the texture of this one is very close to a primer. It’s very light weight, easily gets absorbed and leaves skin so silky smooth, it’s hard to believe! I like using it daily while going to work. Link
- La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 – This French brand does skincare like no other! Anyhow, this sunscreen was recommended to me by my dermatologist last year, when I had major skin troubles. Since then I am hooked on to it. I use it majorly in extreme summers due to the high SPF value. It’s texture is milky and leaves my skin quite moisturized. It’s creamy texture is really good for anyone with dry/dehydrated skin. Link
Now I see how all my favorite sunscreens are at least SPF 40 or higher. Ideally, one should re-apply sunscreen every two hours, but I am guilty of not doing so! But I’m getting there folks..!!! So that was all about sunscreens, do you have any favorites to add?
What: Korres Lip Butter (Plum)
Packaging: It comes in a cute small white colored jar. The color of the lid varies with the shade of the lip butter. I actually like the maroon and white color combination!
Review: It’s a lip butter with a tint. I bought the plum shade, but they are also available in many other shades like pomegranate, jasmine, quince, wild rose, mango etc. Choose the one you like. It’s a good lip butter and gives a nice subtle hint of color when applied. When applied, it makes my lips look naturally dark pink. The only drawback is that neither the color nor the balm stay on lips for more than 2 hours or so. The good part is that my lips do not feel dry or chapped when this product dries out. They feel soft. But yes, I can live without it and may not buy this again.
How I use it: I use it everyday in the morning. And apply it every 3 – 4 hours or whenever I have to look presentable but do not have the time to apply a lipstick. I keep it handy in my bag.
Price: It’s available for 12 USD. Buy it here.
Pros: Subtle hint of color
Cons: Does not last longer than 2 hours

What: L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream
Packaging: It comes in a beautiful round yellow jar with a golden lid. For some strange the big round yellow jar always reminds me of mangoes. Though this product has nothing to do with mangoes (I think so..), it’s just the packaging which reminds me of my favorite fruit back in India!
Review: If you like to live a ‘royal’ life, or treat your skin ‘royally’ then this product is for you! I say so because I feel oh so special and.. royal.. when I apply this!. Just a pea sized amount is more than enough for your face and neck. This product leaves my skin feeling so silky – it’s hard to believe. You seriously have to try it to believe what I am saying. It’s no ordinary moisturizer. They call it an award winning ‘miracle’ cream. And I don’t doubt it! I love this product and will definitely buy it again. Plus it smells so, so good too! The consistency is medium to thick and is quite suitable for most skin types. Just apply as much amount you need (more for dry/extra dry skin and a little less for normal skin). Oily skin types may want to skip this one!
How I use it: I use it mostly during winters. Or when my skin starts acting very dry. During the day, I use a little less amount that what I use at night. Then I apply my sunscreen on top of it. At night after washing and toning, I apply it all over my face and neck (and then immediately jump in to my bed – I love going to sleep with a good fragrance oozing from my hands and face! ummm…) It is a moisturizer so you can use it under your make-up too for that nice dewy look!
Price: You get what you pay for. It’s priced at 106 USD for a 1.7 oz jar. Buy it here.
Pros: The smell, the smooth feeling – it has it all!
Cons: No Cons.

What: Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial
Packaging: As you see it comes in a small glass jar with a white lid. A heavier version of product is also available. If you have extremely dry skin, you may want to try the ‘cream’ instead of the ‘Facial’. The Facial melts in to the skin as soon as applied but the cream stays on the skin longer for extra hydration.
Review: This was the first night cream I ever used. This post is long due since I am done using this product. I wanted to buy a night cream since I never used one before and got this one from Sephora. I tried it in the store, liked how it smelt of roses and bought it. Since I never used a night cream before so I had no clue what to expect out of it. I kept using it for about a month and half and frankly speaking I saw no changes in my skin. Nothing at all. It’s nothing more than a moisturizer. Then one day – I just got bored and stopping using it altogether. My beloved husband who becomes the victim of most of my ‘rejected’ skin products happily took it over and is now using it. He loves the smell of it and doesn’t care about what it does to the skin.. haha!!
Price: It is available at Sephora for $48. Buy it here.
Pros: It has rose oil, sunflower oil, rosemary leaf extract, rose hip oil and jojoba oil in it’s ingredients. So if you are looking for a more natural moisturizer, this may be it. It smells good but then if you don’t like the smell of roses, you may not like this product.
Cons: Does nothing more than moisturizing. I did not see any ‘brightening’ effect as the name suggests.
