Should You Wear Heels while Pregnant?

Should You? Would You.. wear heels during pregnancy? What’s your verdict?Β Yes or No?
Personally I would. I do. However, here are some points to remember to be on the safe side –

  • The heels shouldn’t be very high (say 4.5 inches or higher). Personally, my limit is 4 inches.
  • Pencil heels are a bad idea for posture and (the ever persistent) back pain during pregnancy. It’s wise to opt for comfortable heel types like kitten heels, block heels, cone heels, pumps etc.
  • You should be quite comfortable (and habitual) wearing them.
  • Be VERY careful while climbing stairs in heels. Hold the railing (or someone’s hand) just to be safe.
  • Don’t wear heels if you plan to spend the day walking or standing for long hours (like sight-seeing or downtown strolling etc). Do a favor to your back, and wear those trusted flats.
  • Completely avoid wearing heels if you are suffering with swollen feet or back pain.

That’s it! If you keep in mind these few points, I think wearing heels in pregnancy should be safe!
Personally, I am still comfortable wearing heels (though I do not walk in them a lot). I have like 40 pairs of heels simply sitting in my shoe closet starting at me like ‘Do you still love us?’ It only makes sense to take them out for a spin once a week or so on coffee or brunch dates! πŸ˜‰
P.S. 25 weeks pregnant here.

5 Things to do immediately after a Workout

Let’s come to the point, and directly head to the list –

  1. Relax/Stretch Do breathing exercises. Let your breath come to normal pace. And stretch as long as you want. This will help ease the muscle pain (which happens the next day). I personally love it though πŸ˜‰
  2. Drink loads of water. Pretty self explanatory.. duh!!
  3. Wash your face: The skincare advocate in me will never go to sleep. The usual perception is to let the sweat dry, but in reality you don’t have to do that! You can absolutely wash your face immediately after your work out is done (and you should), specially when you follow Point 1, the sweat will be almost dried out. So please, don’t let that sweat, dirt and grim set in to your pores. Wash it off.
  4. Have your post workout snack. Within 20 minutes of your workout, eat your post workout shake/snack/fruit etc. Your body needs that extra source of energy that time, plus it will yield you good results as your metabolism will boost as well.
  5. Pat yourself on the back. OK you can totally skip this one (or not) πŸ˜‰ But I get so proud of myself after my workout, walk back home looking straight up! I feel like I am not cheating on my body and we both are in a honest, true relationship!!

My 5 Favorite Scarf Looks

As much as I love to wear scarves in my daily life, I don’t think my blog gets that much of ‘action’ when it comes to scarves. I have may be 30 or so scarves in my closet! I wear them mostly while dressing up for work. But on weekends, I like to keep my hands free. I don’t like things hanging out from my body (cue fringes, scarves etc.) when I am out on weekends having fun.. specially when I know I am going to be doing a lot of walking. But still, scarves add charm to any outfit, if paired correctly.

How to pack when Traveling

I travel so much that packing bags is like second nature to me now! I can count what all I need to pack on my finger tips. Just tell me when, and I can pack bags in less than 15 minutes without missing anything..!! πŸ™‚ From toiletries to lingerie to emergency safety pins, I make sure to cover everything!Β When you travel frequently, you become good at planning ahead.

First things first, I always, always make sure to check the weather of my destination. It gives me an idea to whether I should be packing light clothes, or will need a jacket to cover up in the chilly evenings.

And then comes the skincare/toiletries – again I pack stuff depending on weather, how my skin/hair will react to the weather where I am heading! But yes, when it comes to skincare, I don’t travel light! Yes I do carry travel friendly sizes, but I makeΒ sureΒ to pack all my essentials and leave nothing behind.

I don’t go overboard on make-up. My key make-up essentials include a Mascara (currently using this one), Eye liner (this smart liner is great for a cat-eye look), Blush (this dark one looks great on my skin tone) and at least 4 to 5 bright matte lipsticks. You know me (if you follow me on Instagram), I don’t do nude lips that much! Bright reds, plums and hot pinks are my favorite!

For footwear, I never pack heels (unless I have to attend a formal event or something like that!). Instead I pack a lot of walking shoes (these are my favorite). My biggest tip when buying flat sandals – just don’t go on the looks, check – how well they are cushioned and how thick the sole is. If the sole is too thin/flat, that ends up hurting the heels at the end of the day, which is not what we want! Such flats are of no use. For walking I mostly prefer Clarks and Franco Sarto shoes. They look good and feel good!

Jewelry comes last. You know I am not much of a jewelry person. I like light and unique pieces. So jewelry comes in when I have already selected my outfits. Then I match jewelry depending on the neck lines of my dresses, the print, fabric etc. For me, it’s always either a statement neck piece or statement earrings – never both!

Accessories: Watches, Sunglasses, Scarves, Bags – they all fall in to this category. At last I check how much more weight I can add to my bag. And if I have space left, I may throw in one or two cross body bags (they are easy to carry, light to pack and comfortable while walking).

Sharing a few pictures from my recent trip to Niagara Falls. I know you don’t see the Falls anywhere in these pictures, but a water fountain on a random street. To be honest, we were just strolling the streets then! πŸ˜‰
