Pleats and Flowers

I would’ve never opted for this outfit combo 5 years ago. My mantra had always been to balance the proportions of the outfit. If the top is big and flowy, the bottoms should be slim and fit and the vice versa. Why you ask? Because I’m not your average skinny girl. I’m curvy and have always been. I love my curves but sometimes it gets tricky to dress up when you love a piece of clothing but your body shape doesn’t agree with it. So you got to balance it out. This helps accentuate the curves and doesn’t make you look like an apple with a head and legs! So well, here we are.
This year all I want to do is wake up everyday and break my own set notions. I feel like all these boundaries that I have created for myself, must be taken down. All our lives we set these limits for ourselves – we must not do this, do that or I won’t ever wear this or that etc. and all that crap. Time to break it all and set yourself free. πŸ™‚
P.S. Would you believe if I tell you I found this gem of a skirt for merely 12 bucks lying in the sale section of H&M. I lucked out, right?
P.P.S. No make up (except sunscreen), since I wanted the flowers to do the talking. Just kidding.. forgot to wear my lipstick! Ha. πŸ˜‰
P.P.P.S. {Promise this is the last one} I cut my hair short (again, I know!) to a short bob (think Winona Ryder in Square Dance minus the bangs). So this is the last post with longer hair, or a pony if you will. Ok bye.

My little Bumble Bee

This was our first year celebrating Halloween. And oh what fun it was! Technically the night hasn’t ended yet, but the trick-or-treaters are probably off to bed by now (at least mine is!). We dressed our little munchkin as a Bumble Bee and took her trick or treating and also handed out lots and lots of candies to the kids. This was our first Halloween since moving in to our new home. It was lovely meeting our new neighbors and getting to know the neighborhood. Frankly speaking we enjoyed the night more than her. Oh how fun it is to be a kid again! We made so many memories which will be cherished for life. She may not remember these times but we definitely will!
Happy Halloween!!!

5 Days in Philly

It was a fabulous vacation, a wonderful break from my (not so) monotonous life. The little Missy enjoyed it too. I must say, she was a breeze! She loves being outdoors and I loved traveling with her.
Just like I promised there would be pictures from our trip, so here we go! As I said in my previous post that we did not carry our camera. Hence, iPhone came to the rescue! I tried capturing as many memories I could (and as much my phone memory allowed).

P.S. Philadelphia, you were beautiful. Though I’m not done with you! I’ll be coming back soon. πŸ˜‰

Sun and bare legs

We finally completed our ‘settling down‘ process this weekend. All the furniture is bought and set up, boxes opened, kitchen stocked, accessories hanged etc. etc. Now that all this is over, I can finally relax and take a chill pill. So let’s move on..
As you can see in these pictures, my focus for the past few months has been fitness (you would know more if you follow me on Instagram, which let me say you must πŸ˜‰ )! I might have lost some weight (I’m not sure because I haven’t weighed myself in over a year; I go by the mirror and how my clothes fit), but I feel so much stronger than before. I can lift, I can squat, I can bend, I can do much, much more than before.
Just for the record, this blog has and always will, focus on two major things – Fashion and Fitness. My heart lies in both of them, and I could never choose just one!

On the outfit front, who would have thought a plain-jane kind of linen shirt dress would look this glamorous! This dress was lying in the ‘Sales’ isle of Old Navy back in Boston last month (since Boston was covered in snow, no one would dare wearing linen then). That is when I bought it, because I knew I was moving to a warmer place, and could wear it sooner than later. And here we are, linen dress,Β with shining sun, some sweat, and lots of bare legs. No complaints, my Lord!
